About Me

Three weeks after my 21st birthday, I discovered that I was pregnant. Since that day, my life has been split between me and my baby. We're already quite the dynamic team, and now I know my world wouldn't be complete without her. Evelyn Claire was born on July 5, 2011. Since then, she's grown into a feisty, intelligent little girl with the sweetest head full of fuzzy hair that I can't help rubbing my face in.

Evie and I live together in a one-bedroom apartment in Lexington, Kentucky with our fish, Bonbon. Each day is an experiment in multitasking and impromptu dance parties. In the midst of feeling confused and overwhelmed, I can write on this blog and feel some sense of confidence.

Aside from being a mother and writer, I enjoy painting, cooking, travel, swimming, reading and entertaining. Evie is all about learning new words, eating, exploring the outdoors, accessorizing, playing with toys, "reading" and throwing non-garbage items into the trash can.

Throughout my pregnancy and the months since my daughter was born, I discovered a lot about myself while simultaneously vacuuming mysterious substances off the carpet and researching the most recent safety standards on baby products.

Despite the hurdles of being a young single mom, I'm savoring each day for what it brings me. Evelyn and I are growing together as people, and we have a spectacular family to support us along the way. I hope to share my experiences, rants, joys and lessons through this blog, but pregnancy and motherhood is clearly so much more than that. At the end of the day, baby talk is cheap.
